I attended the Friday Career Coffee seminar at the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA).
Career coach Pat Drew pointed out that 70% of jobs are found via networking, and cold contacts (acquaintances and distant contacts) are more typically fruitful than warm contacts (family, friends and close contacts).
The session was made lively by audience participation in networking exercises. I met a dozen people with various interests and backgrounds - and left the session with a pile of business cards and new contacts.
Paloma Bowland, my career coach was also in attendance, and we will be speaking at the NYSSA Friday Career Coffee seminar on October 16th.
