My happy ending holiday story is making the rounds on TV, radio and on-line. Yesterday, Cyrus Sanati of the NY Times put my story in the DealBook/Business section.
Last night, I spoke with Curtis Sliwa live on his nationally syndicated WABC radio show to discuss the bleak unemployment numbers and my novel approach to seeking employment.
Today, my supervisor, Elliot Ogulnick, ASA, CPA, ABV, CVA, and I appeard on MSNBC, interviewed live by John Harwood and Tamron Hall.
It's hard to believe that five months have passed since I was pounding the pavement with my sign board - and all that's been happening!
Congratulations on your patience and persistence. You are truly an inspiration to so many people.

Congratulations, Joshua. Your originality and persistence paid off.
I'm not sure if your MIT degree did though. I posted a cynical take on that on my site.

Joshua, I am so very delighted to read your story and I can't tell you how happy I am for you and your family. You obviously never gave up, are very determined, and you've done whatever you had to do to support your family. You should be very proud of yourself. Best of all, you will all be all that much happier to be together and in addition, you will inspire thousands of others to keep looking. Isn't life amazing? Merry Merry Christmas!

Hello Mr. Joshua! Your story is very inspiring. Your parents must have really raised you well - forming you with the right values and attitudes to deal with the realities of life. But, i believe, it's your virtue of humility that brought you blessings. Praise God! sr.ruth, Philippines

Hi there. Today is December 11, 2009. I just read on the Yahoo home page that you got a job. Congratulations, but you say you were pounding the pavement with your signboard 5 months ago. Why did it take 5 months for the news to catch on? Was it because you first have to go through that first 6- month review period where your peers and supervisors assess your work?

Congratulations Joshua. Praise God for keeping your family together. Thanks for sharing your struggles.

Congratulations to you and your family. You never gave up and that is very important to us right now. Your example proves to us that the american spirit is not broken and will not be broken. If you can do it then anyone can, I also am happy to see that there are strangers there that are willing to help out. Everyone ignored you, for the time that you stood alone but with much perserverence you found compation and faith.
Congratulations and God Bless

You're awesome! It's great to see people showing that with a little bit of grit, you can succeed even in the bad economy.
I have a similar (if not quite as creative and compelling) story. I was an associate at a big law firm when axes starting falling all over the place. Several times I almost got a job, only for there to be a new hiring freeze. After a couple months of this, I decided to start my own practice instead and took a crash course in internet marketing. Although I'm not yet where I want to be as far as incoming revenues, I'm feeding myself and I'm growing.
Best of luck to you and keep up the great work!

Saw your story on the yahoo homepage. Just shows that where there is a will, there is a way. Congrats and many blessings this holiday season!

Joshua,
I have been following your story over the last few months. Needless to say, I was very happy to find out that you got a great job. More importantly, I am happy to hear you will be reunited with your family.
I have also been out of work for a few months. The MBA and doctoral degree don't seem to mean much in this economy. Further, I moved my family to the west coast recently to explore other job opportunities. At the very least your story encouraged me to keep the hope.
Thank you for allowing your story to air not only for the possibility of a job for you, but to encourage others as well.
I wish you all the very best this holiday season.
Peace and all good,
Carmelo

Hi Joshua!
This is so awesome, and I'm so glad to know you'll be reunited with your wife and 2 young children. On top of looking for a job, I'm sure being separated from your family was just as tough!
I wrote about you on my blog today, giving a recap of your strategy and sharing the happy ending. I thought it would be encouraging for people, and perhaps, motivate job seekers to get creative (and take some risk!).
Here's the link to the story I shared:http://blog.generationrelations.com/
My best to you and your family. And congrads, again!
